Novel in progress: Dizzy of Xanthra

Dizzy is a human girl who belongs to a Veyan family, a very long way from Earth. She has never considered running away until a situation arises which makes her question what she believes about her life, her family, and her future.

The night had been a hectic hey-go-round affair

Novel in progress: Working Title ‘Chef’

Due to his particular skills and previous history, a renowned chef at a top teppanyaki grill becomes a central person of interest in a soon-to-be-orchestrated heist. He finds himself gaining unsought attention from police and criminal masterminds alike, and is set on a collision course between them all, when he’d rather just go home and feed his cat. There is a raven sitting upon the bell tower

Novel in progress: Working title ‘Arellian’

“There is a raven sitting upon the bell tower. A raven with a keen, unsettling gaze. A look focused, searching, and somehow mischievous and wise at the same time. We begin at an insignificant little place, a desolate beacon standing silent out in the empty smog

Completed novel: The Memory of Blue Sky

Do you remember a blue sky? Not just blue, but wide as the eye can see blue, and deep, eternally deep? A vista at once calm and still, but free and full of dreams? So open yet somehow undeniably certain, and as much a part of the fullness of existence as breathing? Waking up isn’t an odd thing, usually.

Novel in progress: Working title ‘Zero’

Zero is one of those ideas that seems great until you try to write it, and then you stumble into all sorts of technical-fact difficulties which slow things down. Trying to get the right balance of fantasy/reality – to ground the writing so that its believable, but still make it an adventure that can transport us out if this world, for a little while at least.

‘A Marsh Walump!’

Completed Novel: The Captain, the Avaeste and the King

This adventure started for me as an experiment in semi-lyrical prose. But by the time I’d written 30 pages (in a spectacular two-day stint) I realised I loved the characters and story too much to let them go just yet.

What followed was an epic quest, (for me and for my new written-to-life friends), as we discovered how to traverse the Aethermarinus and remain intact. Continue reading “‘A Marsh Walump!’”
